Employers look for certain skills in their workers that are not specific to any job role.
These skills are personal attributes that you display in your daily life and are considered essential in the work environment.
Training and Skills, North Coast Region, in partnership with our local businesses, has developed a pre-employment skills checklist resource to help you get Be Work Smart.
  • Download the eBook version of the Be Work Smart Booklet.  This is perfect if you want to enter and save your work onto your computer. You can also print off a number of workbooks to use with a group.
  • Download the print ready file for professional printing. This file is for when you would like a professional hard copy of the booklet. It is a large file so might take a few moments to open. You will also need to provide your chosen printer with specifications that you can download here.
  • Download the Be Work Smart Flyer.  This flyer can be used for school promotion of the booklet.
As you go through your workbook you will be given the chance to complete some short quizzes to confirm your learning and help you think about the best approach to handling different situations that will come up in your day-to-day working life.
In the back of the book you will find the Be Work Smart Certificate of Completion. Once you have successfully completed your workbook, present this certificate to your teacher or Principal to have them sign it.
This certificate is your evidence of successfully completing the Be Work Smart Booklet and is a great tool for your Resume.
Show your certificate to potential employers when you are looking for work experience or employment.
